How to turn your scanned images into MS Word or text formats

Online OCR is a software that allows you to convert scanned PDF and photographed images into editable Word, Text, Excel output formats.

Online allows you to convert 15 images per hour in the “Guest mode” (without registration). So, you have to sign up if you want to convert more images.

Here's what you need to do: 
  1. Go to and create an account.
  2. Sign in with your account.
  3. On the home page, you will see the “Select file” button.
  4. Select the file (the photo or the pdf file) you want to convert. (Graphic file format can be any one from the listed below: TIF/TIFF (multipage TIFF), JPEG/JPG, BMP, PCX, PNG, GIF, PDF (multipage PDF) The only restriction: file size should not exceed 30 Mb.)
  5. Click on the “Upload” button.
  6. Wait for the uploading to complete. (It might take some time depending on the size of your graphic.)
  7. Select the recognition language and output format.
  8. Enter the 6-digit code to the box.
  9. Finally, click on the “Recognize” button.
It will give you a text that you can copy and a file in the output format you selected (e.g. Word document, etc.)
